The risk for boiler tube leakages is largely managed by the regular boiler inspections and proactive maintenance. Nevertheless, all leakages cannot be fully prevented by conventional off-line methods. When a tube leakage occurs, immediate reacting and prompt shutdown of the boiler can be crucial in minimizing production losses and repair costs. Leakage detection enables you to detect and identify even small water and steam leakages with the existing process instrumentation without addition of special sensors by utilizing sophisticated methods to detect deviations from the normal process state. The same methods can also assist you in identifying the leakage locations.
When a tube leakage occurs, immediate reacting and prompt shutdown of the boiler can be crucial in minimizing production losses and repair costs.
Especially the leaking high pressure parts can cause severe damage in boiler structure and components. With early detection and confirmed leakage judgement the boiler shutdown can be called confidently thus saving possible excessive repairs.
Early detection of a leakage provides more controlled shutdown and possibly easier repair. Any additional time to prepare for the repair will help you secure the needed resources and materials. The leakage may also be located to individual component such as e.g. separator.
With these, you can increase the chances in bringing the boiler back to full production in shorter time.
Leakage alert is raised immediately when the system has identified the leakage index to increase above the warning threshold. Right after this heads-up, within 3-5 minutes the system makes the final judgement and either calls of the warning or raises the alert. Alert level gives the operator clear indication to call shutdown.
Water - Steam balance status indicator shows the overall balance between water and steam flows.
With this and status indicator for each separator and intrex, it will be easier to locate the leakage.
