By 2022\, an estimated 140 GW of Indian coal-fired power plants will have to comply with stringent SO2 emissions limits of 200 mg/Nm3 for existing units >500 MW\, and 100 mg/Nm3 for all newly commissioned coal units. The Dry FGD systems use advanced CFB scrubber technology\, to efficiently and economically capture a wide array of pollutants\, including SO2\, PM\, acid gases\, and organic compounds. It is cost-effective\, uses the least amount of power and water\, and can handle fuels with a wide range of sulphur content. Additionally\, its recent success with large scale installations in many parts of world make it the ideal choice for Indian power plants\, particularly those less than 700 MW. \nHow Does Dry FGD Work?\nDuring operation\, boiler flue gas enters at the bottom of the CFB scrubber’s up-flow absorber vessel. The gas mixes with hydrated lime and water injected into the absorber\, as well as recirculated solids from a downstream fabric filter.
