In many Asian countries, power producers are turning to low quality solid fuels as they face increasing pressure to generate low-cost power. They are finding that fuel-flexible circulating fluidized bed (CFB) technology can capture both the largest fuel cost savings and largest carbon emission reductions by co-firing biomass and other carbon neutral waste fuels.

Petroleum coke (petcoke) is produced by deep recovery oil refineries using delayed coking technology. It is a high energy fuel priced below coal, making it very attractive to energy intensive industries, like cement, power, glass, and steel. Circulating fluidized bed technology has enabled petcoke’s growing use in power and steam production since it can cleanly

In many markets, power producers are constantly faced with growing pressures to generate low cost power from solid fuels. As a result, power producers are increasingly looking to take maximum advantage of locally mined low-quality coals and lignite that are easily available at significantly lower prices. The resulting increase in utilization of low ranks coals
