April 18, 2018 - Construction work is well underway for MGT Teeside Ltd’s biomass power plant in Teeside, near Middlesbrough, UK. Once operational in early 2020, the 299-MWe facility will become the world’s largest circulating fluidized bed (CFB) plant solely fired on biomass. While fossil fuels are facing strong political pressures there seems to be a market for CO2 neutral thermal power and heat production. Today's market situation calls for fuel flexible technologies, coordinated efforts in the integration of contractual and financial structures and several power generation technologies, while maximum efficiency and economics of scale drive towards utility size solutions.
