NEWS & EVENTS

January 13, 2020 - There is growing recognition that circulating fluidised bed technology is a good fit for India’s power generation needs. An independent expert committee convened by the Indian Ministry of Power – with representatives from CEA (Central Electricity Authority), BHEL, NTPC, and NLC – for example, identified a number of benefits, notably fuel flexibility and inherently low emissions, without the need for expensive emissions control systems to meet the SOx and NOx below 100 mg/Nm3.
November 8, 2019 - Although wind and solar facilities receive most of the renewable power publicity, biomass offers a reliable baseload solution for power generators. State-of-the-art circulating fluidized bed boilers are a dependable option for incorporating biomass into power mixes.
November 8, 2019 - The use of Sumitomo SHI FW (SFW) circulating fluidized bed (CFB) combustion technology has grown from small-scale applications to large ultra-supercritical power plants in less than 20 years. The CFB is rapidly becoming the technology of choice for solid fuel-fired power generation applications, particularly for locations with lower quality and biomass fuel supplies. The fuel flexible and innately lower carbon emissions of CFB technology also addresses the need for sustainable use of domestic fuels in many countries, writes Asif Hussain, SVP of Strategic Business Development, Sumitomo SHI FW.

October 10, 2019 - Following on from an article published in MPS, May 2019, looking at CFB based scrubbing and its suitability for the Indian market, this addendum, from Sumitomo SHI FW, presents a lifecycle cost comparison with wet FGD.
September 17, 2019 - Tighter control of Sulfur Oxides (SOx), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and particular matter (PM) has become a priority for many countries around the world. As an example, India’s Ministry of Environment & Forest (MOEF) has issued stringent regulations that affect an estimated 140 GW of operating coal-fired power plants and all new plants built in the future.
September 17, 2019 - There have been a lot of changes in how power plants do business. As financial pressure mounts and lean-staffing strategies are implemented, finding time to do all the work that needs to be done can be a challenge. Many companies are turning to service providers to fill the gaps.
