Maximize power plant production and profit
Each boiler design has maximum load limits that depends on the fuel mixtures, fuel qualities and operation conditions.
To ensure safe every-day operation of the boiler with varying fuel mixtures when adequate/exact information of fuel quality is not available on-line, the design values for the maximum load in the firing diagram (or envelope) have some design safety margin.
Envelope tool provides you the real-time information of the boiler maximum load that is safely available with the current fuel (mixture and quality). This way the Envelope potentiates full utilization of your boiler capacity and the design margins without increased risk of additional maintenance cost.
First of all, with Envelope you can take your boiler capacity in full utilization – also the hidden potential!
It’s the combination of increased production and improved reliability:
Every shift and operator has now a clear, maximum load to follow.
With good fuel you can go over the nominal MCR and thus increase the production.
With more challenging fuel, you can improve the reliability by keeping the load a bit lower.
On average, you can operate the boiler 3...5% above the MCR and all the time without additional risk and without additional maintenance costs.

Every shift and operator has now a clear, maximum load to follow:
Running the boiler over the nominal MCR safely is no more only for the more senior operators as everyone follows the same rules
Information from previous shift operations is easily available with the trendlines
With unified operations you can increase the overall production quality and efficiency.
First step in deploying the Envelope is always the check-up/tuning of existing component and process controls and identifying possible limitations.
The system provides clear indication of the maximum load with current fuel and process state
The maximum recommended load is indicated with green color
The actual current power is indicated with orange color
By keeping the actual power at recommended maximum, you are operating the boiler to the max - simple as that!
Yet, this level of end user simplicity requires over 300 data points and extensive boiler models that take into account all impacting aspects.
Beside the BMMR trendline, the system also provides trendline of the actual load that the boiler has been operated. With these, you can go back to earlier dates and review how well the optimal load has been utilized. You will also be able to check possible overload situations.
