Sumitomo SHI FW is looking for a


in area of solid fuels combustion process.

The work implies an intense but rewarding period of learning the company’s technology for Circulating Fluidized Bed combustors. This knowledge will be then applied within the company to improve the performance of existing solutions, and to develop new solutions for characterization of fuels, combustion products and process. The work requires intense collaboration with other research engineers, process and design engineers, and technology experts. It implies desk work as well as laboratory and field work in commercial units. Communicating effectively with people of different backgrounds, and report meticulously are paramount.

Candidates should have at least Master’s Degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering, with basic knowledge and experience on analytical tools and methods to characterize solid samples preferably fuels and boiler ash materials, deposits and similar. Previous working experience or higher education in the field of combustion chemistry is advisable, but not mandatory.

English language skills and common computer software skills (e.g. Office) are mandatory. Skills with technical applications (e.g. FactSage, coding languages) is highly valued.

The primary working location is Varkaus. Alternative locations or remote working may be considered.
