Up until now the technical aspects of the CFB (circulating fluidised bed) scrubber for reducing coal-fired power plant emissions have been demonstrated to be superior to conventional wFGD (wet flue gas desulphurisation) and SDA (spray dry absorber) technologies. However, for most applications the life cycle cost of the FGD installation will govern purchasing decisions. The following analysis compares wFGD and CFB scrubber lifecycle costs for a typical 300 MWe pulverised coal plant retrofit located in India, required to achieve stack emission limits of 100 mg/Nm3 for SOx and 30 mg/Nm3 for particulates by 2022.Read full article
