CFBS vs Wet FGD Lifecycle Cost Comparison
Circulating fluidised bed scrubber (CFBS), a SO2 Control technology on pulverized coal units is growing in popularity with plants up to 600 MW in capacity. The cost of installing a CFB scrubber system is around 60 percent of a similarly sized wFGD system. In India, the average installed cost of a wFGD system is $65 per kW or Rs 45 lacs per MW; this translates into immediate savings of almost $25 per kW or Rs 18 lacs per MW in favour of a CFBS system. SFW has the largest operating unit in the world, installed at a 520 MW coal fired power plant and numerous other installations around the world.
