Petroleum coke (petcoke) is produced by deep recovery oil refineries using delayed coking technology. It is a high energy fuel priced below coal, making it very attractive to energy intensive industries, like cement, power, glass, and steel. Circulating fluidized bed technology has enabled petcoke’s growing use in power and steam production since it can cleanly and reliably extract the heat energy from petcoke despite its low volatility, high metal and sulfur levels.

July 23, 2019 - Sumitomo SHI FW (SFW) announces today that it has been awarded a contract by Cheng Loong Corporation, CLC for a CFB steam generator for their Chupei Mill in Taiwan. Commercial operation of the new boiler is scheduled for July 2021.

March 28, 2019 - Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. secured an order for a 112 MW biomass power plant from Able Energy Limited Liability Company. The Plant will use wood pellets as its fuel source, and is designed to be a high-efficiency, dedicated biomass combustion power plant that utilizes a reheating system.
